Special thanks to Jillina who invited me to join the BDE team in Asia and to the “Top Bellydance School” in Seoul, who proved themselves to be a first class act! Much gratitude to Namsuk and Elle who went above and beyond the call of duty to look after us and to Jimine who saved my life by letting me use her father’s restaurant serving trays to perform with after I accidently left my own balancing tray at home!
The Bellydance Evolution festival in the spiritual island of Bali was heavily supported by the Indonesian government, the Bali Tourism Board and all the major magazines, newspapers and television stations were there to report on it. I was told that the World Peace concert we did there in 2003 went a long way toward having them embrace bellydance as a cultural art and they have plans for an even larger festival next year. We can only hope that this is only the beginning of a global shift where we can see this phenomenom repeated in many other countries with more doors opening for all bellydancers in the future. Our workshops and shows were held at the incredible 5 star resort, Ayodya Palace with a giant stage specially constructed just for Bellydance Evolution right next to the beach under the light of a full moon. Special thanks to the Felix, Suzanne and Ben from the festival team and Barbara, Yoko, and Dody from Bellydance Japan magazine for making us feel so welcome.”
