The St. Regis Bali Resort and The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua Supports the UNICEF Check Out For ChildrenTM Programme with A Unique UNICEF Challenge Golf Tournament Charity Performance

Bali, Indonesia, 31 October 2011 – The St. Regis Bali Resort and The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua in partnership with Bali Golf & Country Club continued in their effort to support children around the world by proudly presenting a first ever, first class charity golf event, UNICEF Challenge Golf Tournament on Saturday, 29 October 2011.

In line with the Global Citizenship Programme of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, the two hotels undertook this worthwhile initiative for raising additional funds for UNICEF. An alliance between Starwood Hotels & Resorts and UNICEF, the UNICEF Check Out For Children programme raises monies through an additional US$1 (or its equivalent in another currency) which is included in the room bill of each guest and this has helped immunize over one million children in underdeveloped countries since 1995.

Starting at 6.30am, the golfers began the day with a delightful breakfast with Champagne at Arwana Restaurant at The Laguna Nusa Dua, after which they were transferred to the green fairways to take their first shot gun swing. To enhance this lifestyle play and as a first ever done on the Bali Golf & Country Club Course, the players toasted to the start of the game with a glass of Champagne and thereafter, they were served refreshing cocktails together with delightful canapés at certain intervals and holes on the course. The charity golf event ended on a high note with a sumptuous buffet lunch, complemented with wines at Boneka Restaurant at the St. Regis Bali, during which, tournament winners were announced.

Golfers won great prizes including two Grand Prizes, one being an exceptional and luxurious two night stay at the residential style beachfront Strand Villa at the St. Regis Bali and the other, a two night stay at the luxurious Pool Villas at The Laguna Nusa Dua. The Hole-In-One prizes, return business class Garuda flight tickets to two destinations, Singapore and Hong Kong were not won by the players and were thereby used in an auction to raise additional monies for the event.

All monies raised from this event will support the Check Out for ChildrenTM program to improve lives of children around the world.
